Even though the magnet itself is smaller than the dimensions due to the cup thickness and the silicone bed its mounted with it is a strong magnet from the bottom not the edges or outer area of the cup

The magnet did attach itself to the metal wall as id anticipated but with the cord kept it from being too smooth and therefore impossible to free

Beware of getting two stuck together or better yet your finger between them when they attract at high speed
