I'm not a beginner, i'm an adult intermediate fiddler. It is a great way to learn finger placement which seems to be my biggest problem.

I dont think the back bottom thumb brace is really necessary

The cons is that you cant fit your bow into your violin case so you always will have to remove it before packing it into your instrument

This should probably not be put on a good bow however and i think the manufacturer should warn people about this since violin bows can be quite expensive some of them cost more than the violins their being played on

When i first put this on my bow it stripped off the wiring and the little leather finger grip in the process of positioning it correctly

Fortunately i dont play with an expensive bow and this may have contributed to how easily they were stripped

While im sure the wiring and finger pad could be replaced this isnt something most people would want to do with an expensive bow

That is also the problem since i got so used to having it on there i found myself missing it when it wasnt
