I used it to shine up some old athletic medals of my grandfathers most of which were nearly black and it took the tarnish right off

Some of it gets on your fingers but a simple handwashing gets it off

But i couldnt use the dip with pieces that have enamel or pearls so i tried the cloth on one of those pieces and found that it rubbed the gold completely off

But i would wear disposable gloves when using it otherwise the black gets all over your hands and it is hard to get off
