It has elements of suspense, tension, drama, sadness and a little romance. None of the characters are one-dimensional; even the antagonist plantation owner has her flaws and at times you might sympathize with.

Do yourself a favor and read this astounding book. This book is part of the It is a hefty read, but definitely a worthwhile read.
