The neck flap has good coverage but isn't excessively large. It's soft and flexible enough to fold up into her diaper bag.
I cinch it up right now and it fits perfect. They clean easy. Also, it gets squeezed into my backpack and still looks great. I just wish the hat would be more compactable / foldable.
As a grandparent this is my fifth purchase. This is a quality hat that doesn't look childish in any way.
No one complains about wearing these hats. They fit them perfect. The breathable mesh on the sides keep them cool.
Cons
The material is not breathable at all, so after just 10 min my baby sweating like she ran a marathon. It is sewn onto the band creating an area of weakness.
