These socks are defiantly knee high and thick socks that are breathable. Waterproof & breathable except when wearing ski boots. Sumade says that these socks breathe, too, so they won't make your feet sweaty.

The sock is so large and stiff that only the bottom of my toes touch the sock. The sides and top balloon out away from my foot. I'm disappointed that one sock isn't waterproof.
