Pros

The tlr-1 hl is super bright! Super bright, laser is sharp but a little off the bore axis. The only problem i really had was the silver ring at the tip of the light…just stands out (i painted it black lol).

Tlr-1 is also *much* better when it comes to runtime compared to my x300u. Best value over surefire and olight. Hard to beat mil-spec.

It has mutiple mounting blocks, hardware and comes with batteries. Mounted the tlr-1hl on a 590 shockwave. Fits perfectly with the cdm mount and is out of the way when racking a shell.

Cons

The only thing holding this door completely closed (and waterproof as this is falsely advertised as duty grade) is a little bit of glue. There was one battery installed and the spring latch holding the batteries in place was broken on one side. And wh...  Read More

Also, the bolt to tighten the sig key free spins and does not lock down. It's a poor design, as all 3 broke in the same place/way, on 3 different firearms no less.

Light still works and doesn’t seem any less bright but a major disappointment after spending decent money. It's a shame, because it's a very effective light, and that one change would make it exceptional. Absolutely useless and worthless.

Price

For the price, you cannot beat it.

This is a great product for the price.

Packaging/appearance

2 stars for the company packaging a brown light in a package labeled ’tan’.

The label on the streamlight package says fde, nowhere does it say brown but that’s what i got.

Competitiveness

I have used streamlight tlr-1 weapon lights for years.

I have a couple other flashlights by streamlight and they’ve never failed to provide great quality products.

I recently changed out the 123a batteries with 16340 rechargeable type.

Do be sure to use matched sets of new batteries - li-ion batteries in a high drain environment such as this must be of the same manufacturer and lot number to be able to output at rapid discharge levels.

Battery door is gasketed - should be well sealed against the elements, but if the sidearm gets wet, of course dry thoroughly and replace with new batteries for safety.

But if it's a new moon and you're half way to nowhere, you need light much more than you need sights.

Buy that first and then worry about your sighting system.

Honestly, a sidearm with no light is like a car with broken headlights.

Sure, you might be able to deploy safely.
