The book covers some horrific themes but somehow manages to also be uplifting. This has chilling, harrowing and heartbreaking themes that will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions. This is a brace yourself, buckle up read.
The story describes how sally progresses socially, how she gradually learns to make friends. As she begins to discover the horrors of her childhood, recluse sally steps into the world for the first time.
Our little cruelties was new in paperback. The total standout for me in the utterly compelling and immersive read is the memorable character of sally.

She herself didnt know the tragic story of how she came to be adopted by an eminent psychiatrist but it explains why at 42 she is a loner with severe anger management issues
