Pros

Cons

I would like a refund onthis book - having been int he print industry for many yrs - i understand things go wrong but everytime i turn a page - it comes out. I am stunned that so many gave it such high reviews. In my mind, carrie is probably sorry she...  Read More

The characters are cardboard. The overseer is heartlessly cruel and violent.

The plantation owners selfishly preserve the status quo. Our heroine's so-called agonizing struggle over whether or not to support the institution of slavery is tedious. The dialect of the slaves is not near what it really was at that time.

The writing is ridiculously simplistic. The characters are shallow and poorly developed. If the writing showed more maturity this would have been an excellent read.
