Theres a lot of fascinating information in this book that i think everyone should know but its not the most accessible book in the sense that its written like a traditional historical text

While i knew some of this information about reconstruction this book renewed that knowledge and embellished its aftermath and other ways that freed slaves were denied much of what was part of the us settlement with the confederacy regarding the rights of freed people
