The author surmises his stand in the form of author's notes in the end. For the really open-minded, crichton makes some interesting points and arguments. This is one of my favorites among his novels, & i'm surprised that i haven't read it before.

It provides a broader context for why the media might be interested in playing up this subject. It is really quite extraordinary.
Cons
Author says climatologist misrepresented the data. He says author's longwinded explanation is preachy. Author has an ax to grind in poo-pooing the global warming crisis, he says.
Sorry to besmirch the dead. But the writing is just plain awful. Which is laughable. It’s just plain silly.
