First off let me say that the fire glass calculator i used and i tried several all coming up with the same amount i would need was considerably off

According to the instructions the gas burner should be covered about 1 inch and the ignitor area kept clear

If i added additional glass the burner would be buried more then 1 inch and i would have to mound it up as it would spill out onto the outer ring surrounding the pit area

Not sure how that will hold up but so far no discoloration no burning cracking of the mirror side etc
