Pros & Cons
Pros
I was captivated by the relationship between padme and anakin. We know anakin, the wistful and gifted little * boy of the phantom menace, will wind up as darth vader.
Anakin is still assigned as padme's protector and is to take her to her home planet of naboo. We understand why padme is vulnerable to anakin's advances and her interactions with her family. The detailed conversation between padme and her sister sola ... Read More
Be prepared to feel intense sorrow and sense of victory throughout this novel. Characters are given more depth and exploration. It goes into detail about what she was thinking when she was being tortured.
An attempt on padme amidala's life leads the jedi into startling discoveries. Yoda, senator palpatine, obi-wan kenobi, and anakin skywalker are back again in r. I. P. R. A.
Cons

The right word for it is obnoxious. The writing is repetitive, flat, and unemotional. It's as if the entire indianapolis 500 was driven under a yellow caution flag.
Movie novelization doesn't try to tell new, exciting storylines. Latest work presents even more red herrings, never successfully buries any of the ones brought up in return of the jedi or phantom menace.

The novel version successfully transforms what i consider a deeply flawed movie into a captivating story by providing the much needed context for the actions and dialogue that the movie presents in an awkward vacuum

As a side note i cannot unfortunately give the same recommendation for terry brooks retelling of the phantom menace which was essentially the movie in novel form with little to nothing done to improve upon the movie other than the fact that you dont actually see the poor acting
