Instructions for assembly and operation are contained in the very clever app which uses very clear animations to guide you through assembly and then allows you to test and operate r2d2 once they have been done

Once the basic assembly has been done r2 functions in remote control having sounds speed direction and steering done from the smartphone

This choice is fairly limited since there is only one extra electronic part to add a proximity sensor the rest of the changes involving moving motors around which means for example that to have the head move the droid is no longer mobile
