My first set of whiskey stones were made out of granite and did a great job of cooling my drinks but a couple actually broke after a year of using them

As a result there would still be water left in the microscopic cracks and crevices in the stones the water would expand inside the whiskey stone when it froze in the freezer until finally the rock cracked
