Pros

The story arc and character development is the best i have seen since terry brooks/brandon sanderson's wheel of time series. The battles are more epic in scope, the characters more layered and interesting. If you like a story where the mc figures out ...  Read More

Cons

Minalan is not likable yet women are waiting to jump into his bed. If the conflict that the author created can't be resolved by a magic spell then it's deus ex machina.

This series contains, by far, the most poorly edited books i've ever read. It is repleat with misplaced words and continuity error. If you buy the audible version and listen to it you realize that it contains lines the novel doesn't.

The story is decently written and decently told. The author uses the normal fantasy trope but fails to make them his own. This book feels more like a daydream of grandeur than an epic fantasy.

The main character brags of molesting children (sleeping with young girls), and of having * relations with conquered women and slaves. He visits a * and sleeps with two teenage prostitutes, who he says he thinks must be the proprietors own daughters. ...  Read More

Characterization is decent although pacing is marred for me due to the split nature of the narrative we constantly swap between the characters past and present a technique i dont really enjoy

He thought he was setting himself up for a simple life without a lot of stress

The bad guys are happily irritating

On the downside each chapter includes a flashback to show how minalan got to where he is and this structure got old fast

It also pretty much precluded any real character growth occurring in the novel

I think it would have been far wiser for mancour to tell the story in much more chronological fashion and let us watch minalan become the man he is at the beginning of the story

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Because the later book allude to things that happen in the short stories

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

While im no author its easy to see how a mc could easily be written in a way that they become so powerful that it becomes difficult to keep a reader engaged in the outcome of the story
