Pros & Cons

Pros

This kit is perfection. It's smaller and it doesn't come with instructions so you kinda have to just guess at how it goes together. It all works just as promised and you can get very creative with the tofu.

The kit also comes with an unbleached muslin cloth to put the curds in before you press. The fabric it comes with is a really nice plus — it’s much more convenient to use as a liner than several layers of cheesecloth.

Andrea nguyen suggests -and this seller has - laura soybeans, they're non-gmo. The tofu is good for 2 meals(2 adult,2 teenage kids) the only warning i have is that the tofu is not the plastic stuff from supermarkets.

Nigari makes a nice firm, mild tasting tofu that is very pleasant. Andrea n suggests using gypsum rather than nigari for silken.

Found a weight that is heavy enough and geometrically shaped. Works perfectly to press tofu blocks to whatever firmness you want. The press is finely-milled bamboo and well made.

Cons

Tofu is small like wash cloth some people sell washcloth bigger than that. Does not include soy beans. Cheesecloth is small.

The bottom part is completely detached from the rest of the box making it easy to take out the tofu after it is done

However because it is detached i once absentmindedly attempted to lift the the whole box with the lid and the weight and the curds slipped down

You’d need to make gallons of soy milk to fill this thing and have a huge industrial size pot in order to coagulate

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I made a single batch in my soybella and the results were superb but about an eighth of of inch deep

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As a beginner i didn’t realize how much soy milk was necessary to make a batch

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

But be aware if you’re a newbie even filling this thing halfway with curds will take a ton of soymilk

I may have bought a smaller one if i would have known
