If you can afford it deserves the price
I wish it was a little faster but there are size and cost considerations

For a superzoom this is an excellent lens much sharper at the short end then any alternative

The compactness of mirrorless cameras is what got me hooked on the nex systems

This lens is just not designed with mirrorless cameras in mind it was designed for sonys prosumer hd camcorders

The combined weight of this lens plus pretty much any nexalpha mirrorless camera is still a featherweight in comparison to a fullsize dslr with an 18200mm lens attached

While the sel18200 as well as the le version can be considered an allinone lens as another review points out its really no substitute for a true wideangle lens in that it introduces a noticeable degree of barrel distortion similar to the kind youd get on a cheap addon wideangle converter lens whereas the kit 1650mm lens does not

For still photos this is not so much of an issue as the camera can compensate for this electronically but for video it does not do incamera correction

In summary ill say the sel18200 is a fine lens with very good optical image stabilization for video if you dont mind the heft and size but it will introduce noticeable barrel distortion at its wide settings
