I usually lay the solar ones out in the sun for a day or two or so to charge up to test in the dark for placement battery ones i just add batteries and test then set down or put up

So these solarmks 24 leds were being more than a little bit annoying because i couldnt seem to get them to turn on and stay on either nothing or a brief flash here and there

It looks like there are different versions some with buttons to push others with pins to insert to turn on

So i finally realized i wasnt pressing either the mode or onoff buttons hard enough to hear the faint click that indicates that the switches have engaged

Also if you accidentally switch modes because you didnt hear the clicks you could lose your place in the threemode cycle dimbright offbright and offoff and have it stay dark when you do repeated clicks with the onoff button in the offoff mode you would need to advance it at least one mode click with light to know you switched the whole fixture on into sensing mode
