Turns out once the gopro reports its battery is full the battery pack turns off as it should and then the gopro runs from then on until dieing

The issue is it doesnt turn the battery pack back on after the battwry gets low on gopro

The biggest drawback of the gopro session is a built in battery that cant be hot swapped and cant be replaced
