From my own perspective im generally not hugely concerned about the security risks although i have not installed indoor cameras partly for this reason and so i have continued to do likewise having so far become a full convert to philips hue and the google nest thermostats

Over the years i have also built up an impressive collection of smart plugs beginning with a series of kasa tplink smart plugs both with and without energy monitoring before transitioning to philips hue plugs released late 2019 and now i have the opportunity to try out a samsung smartthings smart plug

Design wise the samsung smart plug is very similar to the philips hue version with both being roughly similar in size and each of them having the manual override power button on the top

I also found it as easy to set up as the philips hue the kasa tplink smart plugs require much more input to set up and much be done individually as provided you have the smartthings hub an essential piece of kit to ensure that plug will work it is simply a matter of following the small number of steps in the smartthings app to connect it to the system

Given that the samsung smartthings app seems to offer more flexibility i think i might be purchasing more of these plugs and experiment further with transitioning all my current devices to the smartthings app which can be done because they all use the zigbee protocol
