Perfect for my pool i set the timer and it automatically goes on and off my husband went outside at 6am and set it to run from 6am until 12 noon which works great for us i love itno more trips in and out forgetting to turn it on or off or rushing home to shut it off

If you want to change the time it starts just push the button until it shuts off and restart it at the time you want it to start

It is covered but not 3 feet up

Like that it handled power outages but those also altered the subsequent start time requiring me to unplug and then replug when i wanted it start running again
