The lock itself seems to have a decent amount of weight to it. Great design. Overall i am pleased with the gate lock, and look forward to it lasting.
The smartkey gate lock is a nice looking set-up & complete with all mounting hardware and clear directions. Took him roughly 30 minutes to install. The instructions are easy enough and shows the rekeying process and installation procedures.
Cons
I disassembled, cleaned & loved internals and it would lock for a day or 2. It is now november first and i can no longer lock or unlock from the outside. What's the point of a lock if you can't rely on it to stay locked?

Overall i am pleased with the gate lock and look forward to it lasting
There are a lot of other reviews about issues with the lock mechanism the springs andor the latch
With the drifting snow we get i wouldnt be able to open the gate even if i got it unlocked so i havent tried
Packaging/appearance
Never use wd40 which is a degreaser not a lubricant unless youre cleaning it before applying a proper waterrepelling lubricant
These are open cutouts on the back of the lock

As far as keys it comes with a kwikset smartkey cylinder that is rekeyable with any compatible kwikset key

The problem i ran into was the wind

I live in a place where very strong winds can gust through and the springs that keep the lock locked are very small and offer little resistance

So during the night some strong winds were able to open the latch

So my solution was to take the thing apart and see if i could fix this

There are 3 springs for depressing the latch and i replaced them all with much stiffer springs

Also you can switch from left to right on the bar but you cant adjust how far the bar sticks out when locked or unlocked
