You dont have to turn them on and off simply standing on them wakes them up and they clearly display your weight in your chosen unit of measurement

Having downloaded the app and paired them to your phone the scales transfer your weight to the phone

However its not automatic you have to fiddle with your phone to make the data transfer

I have docked a star simply because you have to fiddle with your phone in order to transfer your weight into the samsung health app however this may be a bit unfair and simply be a quirk with the samsung app itself i have not tried their own app

However this is not to bad from a tracking point of view as when using the same scales each day it is only measuring against the previous metrics from the same device and so relevant to your progress

These give you you lots of information weight balance heart rate heart rate index body water body fat body bone mass and muscle mass bmi and lots more detail in the app with suggestions measures on where you should be on each individual measure

If you dont want to download the app you can just use it as a normal scale
