But this one spins the hard disk drive down if its not in use of if you disconnect it but do not power it off

This is actually positive as this will likely decrease the heat however its going to add a little delay when you start using the disk again as it has to spin in up again

The good thing though is that if you forget the power supply on its not that important anymore
