But it can definitely cut through paper and thin card ive used it on troublesome blister packaging too its brilliant as somehow the ceramic makes it all feel safer than if it was metal yet it is sharp so dont be mistaken this is a product that should be kept away from minors

On reading the other reviews on amazon about this cutter there seem to be the following causes for concern1 the white plastic blade holder can come detached from the body and end up stuck inside the cap2 the blade itself is so small that you cannot easily see which way round it is3 the blade can wander away from your straight edge easily4 the blade edge can get chipped5 the blade is too small for thick cardwith the cutter i have it appears that the manufacturers have addressed the first two points

There is a printed green line on the blade holder in line with the back of the blade so if you cannot see the green line you are holding it the wrong way round

As for using with a straight edge the small size of the actual blade meant i could not use it with my 12 steel rule as it was too thick and the blade did not reach the paper

I believe this is because it does not grate metal against metal so you do not notice when it breaks contact with the rule

First the blade is too short to cut through the card and use a straight edge at the same time
