But it was always too big for my king mattress lots of extra material that would never stay tucked in

I also did wash it first as the directions say

We finally stood it up on its bottom end got the cover around the top end pushed it down as much as possible then layed the mattress back down

I ran it through the washing machine once as suggested on the label and it seemed to soften it up quite a bit

I would not use it as a mattress pad as its made of a thinner material and it would be too difficult to remove each time for a washing
