Pros & Cons

Pros

Stainless cylinders with laser engraved label and date stamp. Couldn't be happier. Worth the money, and much happier. This significantly reduces the water hammer, although doesn't eliminate it.

These are a quick, easy and cheap solution to water hammer. Attaches easily to an outdoor faucet. Use this in conjunction with watering timer.

Get a 5 gallon bucket to catch water while disconnecting the hoses. Note my shutoff valves were heavily corroded - 1960s home. They have a long stem so they can clear the back panel of the washing machine easily if the inlets are recessed.

Using two arresters per line, the load of the hammering is shared almost equally. Two on the outlets and two on the inlet (washer side) seemed to do the trick.

Spritz, bang, spritz. There are rubber gaskets inside that create the seal. No teflon tape or pipe dope should be used.

Cons

It works great for a while, then by march of 2022 had completely failed. Now it makes a horrible noise. Will go with a different manufacturer this time.
