I compared this to a cheap throwaway compass and its better

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It could have been designed better so that the central ring was not as large or the text was slightly further from it

Its olive drab green pretty heavy and the clasp was easy to open but not in a way that it would come open accidentally

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It feels like you could drop it from a high place onto a bed of rocks and it would be okay

Silva of sweden has again reacquired the silva brand in north america so this compass has been discontinued and is unlikely to return

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

My silva lensatic 360 compass is wellbuilt of excellent materials and so far has shown no air bubbles or other quality problems

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

One drawback of these types of oilfilled lensatic compasses is that the liquidfilled capsule is quite shallow so you have to take care when leveling the compass for a reading otherwise the dial may ground on the bottom of the capsule and wont rotate

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As a sighting compass with a floating dial the silva lensatic 360 is better suited to compassonly navigation or for taking bearings to landmarks as opposed to mapandcompass work though it certainly can be used to orient a map to north
