I just take the lip ring that is attached to the filter and smack it on the counter to release the filter and then quickly remove the filter and screw the lip ring back on

The reason i only rate the bottle 4 stars is the bottle i have seems to have a bit of a defect where the dome at the bottom of the interior and the rubber grip on the bottom are off center

The only complaint i have is that it comes with a tea filter which is great but was not engineered well for actual use

They should have attached a clip so that it can be pulled out without soaking your fingers in boiling water while attempting to pry it out
