    Those standard studio phones were great for monitoring audio and for cranking up--especially the sony the md series--but by god if they completely distorted your mix.

    I don't know the exact specs but i imagine a pair of sony md series phones, though under $100, are the loudest headphones ever made.

    A radio engineer who got hired at a station i worked at in the 90s made a point of getting rid of them from our studios saying they were nothing more than mini-loudspeaker ear muffs and would cause hearing loss with regular use.
