Pros & Cons

Pros

Dynamic mics are pretty quiet as compared to condensers. This mic sounds great and is built solidly.

Sennheiser is undoubtedly one of the finest brands in audio. It has clean, clear sound, excellent response yet stellar handling noise rejection. I suspect the nay-sayers here do not sing with this microphone.

Big fan of this mic over the shure sm58. Outperforms my sm58 and sm57, sounds warmer, better output.

Cons

Mic feels like it has a delay in it. If you want a mic for a speaking application, then this is the mic for you, otherwise, bla bla bla.

Quality

I bought this mic a while back and i loved the quality and sound so much that i bought another one

Sound quality is super nice for more quiet vocals for example singing beatboxing talking

The quality of the microphone is fairly robust and should be able to take some drops and abuse but the carvin is more robust an...  Read More

If you want to upgrade go with the sennheiser 845 or even 865 but dont be fooled by the marketing of the older shure 58

Price

My only problem is that the price dropped 10unit the day after i purchased them

Packaging/appearance

Such a more refined and well balanced tone having changed nothing on the pa eq

My previous microphone was the at2020 and i despise that microphone with every fiber of my being

I kicked the sm58 habit long ago because of too much 34proximity effect34

Competitiveness

Use for live vocals sounds better than shure sm58 akg d5 etc in my opinion

Now i would chose this over sm58 beta even they were same price

I have used the shure sm58 since the beginning of time on my home pa system but this mic blows it out of the water

Replaced a shure sm58 and a couple oktava mk012s and would not go back

The quality of the microphone is fairly robust and should be able to take some drops and abuse but the carvin is more robust and around 40 years old still ticking sound quality is higher pitched and more sensitive to voice pickup and feedback

These types of sounds can be removed in post with a decent noise matching filter however

It does not pick up signal very well like shure sm58 electrovoice nd767a or akg d5 when you have like 3 inches or more away from the lip
