I use a heavy wooden spoon, not a light one, and just start thumping. Slips around and spatters some but works.

Cons

Deseeder grid is only held to the base by small plastic rails. The amount of force required to push the pomegranate through is enough to break the grid away from the base. The product is messy. Has to be thrown out now.
