Amazon did a painless exchange & the second whistle seems to work well so far. To replace the membrane use wide scotch-type such as packing tape to cover the wide end of the whistle.
Perfect for hiking where there are bears and coyotes. Great for boating, sporting events and more. Made in taiwan not that other place. Doesn't rust and not affected by water.
Cons
Mine is very tricky to make noise with. It requires lung power to actuate. If i'm already out of breath from running and i see a coyote i now have to perfectly fit my lips around the hole on the side and try to muster up enough breath to make it blow ... Read More

If the clear membrane gets too much moisture on it the whistle will not work

To replace the membrane use wide scotchtype such as packing tape to cover the wide end of the whistle gotta remove the wide blue piece
