Pros
I'm amazed at how nit picky some people are about this type of product. They work very well in any pipe. The saving grace is their longevity.
It insures that your air flow is constant and not plugged by the tobacco. They also help all of my pipes smoke better, including my five cobs, which are my favorite pipes in my current rotation.
They fit most bowls fine and keep the tobacco from plugging the stem. Need to be stretched out slightly to get snug fit. A good shake every now and then will expedite cleaning.

You cant reasonably expect to take it out of the package and think its going to just drop in and fit perfectly every random pipe

It may take 30 seconds of pinching squeezing or spreading to fit your particular pipe

For the most part i just replace the mesh screen every few bowls

I found very small hemostat type pliers from harbor freight to a useful tool for positioningremoving the screen ball photos attached
