Indeed the book at times is certainly critical the very last paragraph of the book begins though schopenhauers metaphysics is not credible as a system

The discussion of schopenhauers philosophy is hard to follow i listened to this as an audiobook but that has more to do with schopenhauers philosophy which the author acknowledges as being muddled and incoherent at times
