So, i don't know how this lock might stand up to constant exposure to more challenging conditions than it encounters while my bike is stored in the basement.

There is a problem with the actual locking mechanism.

The key is at least a bearing/cylindrical type lock so it won't easily be opened with a bic pen.

The lock says schlage, but when you follow the trail to get spare/replacement keys, you end up at the kryptonite website and kryptonite mailing address.

Don't go to the schlage website for spare keys.
