They came with adhesive that we were able to stick to the top trim of the window

I put velcro strips on them so there is no way they can’t fall off also attached to metal part of window not the painted surface

I agree with other reviewers that the enclosed clips are not hefty enough to sport the weight of the thicker material but with a little creativity you can buy more substantial clips at the dollar store
