Pros & Cons
Pros
The plug-in wire antenna is a bit mickey mouse, but it does the job without taking up the internal space a telescopic antenna would. To get any fm stations you need to use either the headphones or the 'add-on' antenna. Use the headphones as an antenna... Read More
Radio is fairly durable except for the 3. Mm jack. Sound is good and it is well designed/manufactured. Bass boost provides a little thump thump.
The sangean is a lot more expensive, but worth every penny. It comes with a comprehensive instruction booklet with easy to follow directions. Has hard switch to lock all controls, preventing accidental button pushing.
Rechargeable batteries make this nice for the environment. Good battery life. I use rechargeable aaas.
Cons
Speaker is tinny and almost inaudible. Crackle crackle, volume goes up and down, sound cuts out left or right. Static and noise from more powerful stations bleeds over them most of the time.
It is narrow and falls over. Cannot reset memory. Now it shuts itself off whenever it feels like it. Usually anywhere from 2 mins. Well it's on it's way back. All the * quit working.
It pulls in stations and has similar selectivity, but theloss of audio quality makes it not a very good replacement. Fm reception isn't good for the price. I have another sangean radio which is great but this is junk.
Belt clip, volume control, station selector and overall hand-on-device logic is essentially, clunky. Plastic clip that is supposed to attach to your belt is pretty worthless.
