Ive been using short usb extension cables for years because i work in a lab where sticky a thumb drive in a tower computer sitting on the floor unless its one of those that dont stick out just invites someone to bump it and break the body off from the inserted part

By using a short extension cable the thumb drive can be knocked around or bumped and nothing happens

My big issue with many of the usb extension cords is a lack of plastic case around the end into which you plug the thumb drive or whatever
