If you’re not an experienced groomer the “safety stop” is pretty pointless as you can still quick a dog with long veins or short nails and i don’t know any groomers that actual use it it gets in the way more then anything but luckily you can remove it if you wanted to or just move it to the side out of the way

We’ve tried many different clippers and grinders over the years to do our dogs’ nails and they’ve all been worthless

The guard helps monitor how much comes off

My only complaint is the safety guard as it can get it the way and make it difficult to position properly sometimes
