The wii u format is proprietary and not documented online so would have had no other way of duplicating the disk

Cheap works with ubuntu linux on my dell laptop doesnt spontaneously disconnect as does my older single bay usb3 hard drive dock does which might be an issue with the power supply not supplying enough juice
