It has a protected base to prevent scratching the car. Strong magnet and doesn't scratch paint.

The ball mount is also very sturdy. Just in case. Ball head is descent. Works as advertised.

It took two people and two flathead screwdrivers to pry them apart which damaged the rubber coating
