You open the sides out and fold down the shelves to hook into the sides

I was worried that there would be a million pieces with one inevitably getting lost ruining the entire piece but i just had to take it out of the box and snap the folding sides into the shelves

The fact that the finials all seem to be just slightly different adds to the charm making it look like a handmade product
