Pros

The mushrooms taste great and we fried them, used with spaghetti and ate them in a salad. It is in the fridge right now getting ready for round two of growing. Trying for a second harvest now.

The shiitake goes get a little bit of mold. Keep it wrapped in the provided plastic cover.

Cons

If your motivation is culinary, this is not an option that will save you money or make any noticeable flavor difference. Not giftable. Received damages items, need better packaging.

I am sure that is not poisonous or anything. Very little growing (ie very small harvest), and zero regrowing of caps. Second flush and zero results.
