The sextant looks very nice, but is nonfunctional. The arm moves, but the mirrors and shades are misaligned. It cannot be used to view the horizon without modification.

An ugly seam went down the middle of the box base

I read several reviews that indicated that several other products had poorly made wooden boxes this one did not the box was very well made

However if you are in to tinkering a bit it can be made in to a mostly functional sextant
