Curtis sittenfeld delivers an uncannily astute and witty story for our times. He adeptly captures the aspirations and frustrations of a woman poised for greatness if only the course of history would accommodate her. Curtis is a gifted mimic.

There is a lot here to unpack- feminism, sexism, politics, of course; but also what feels like truthful nuggets on aging and loneliness. This is the hilary we all wish we knew!

We know a lot of it, but the human backstory is still fascinating. When hillary leaves bill you feel all the pain and regret of her own what if's. Excellent characterization --dialogue sounded exactly like hillary & bill.

The novel resonates with the authenticity of a genuine memoir. The hillary of this novel is a fascinating character and the novel is delightful to read.

This one is despicable. It’s so poorly thought through and doesn’t make logical sense when you consider how misogyny, racism, and other forms of oppression actually work" "the book is more than gratuitous * scenes.

Hillary comes across as thoroughly decent but plodding and wonky. She weaves in mentions of policy issues but it reads like a high schooler talking about politics.
