Pros

Swing away feature clears the side of the truck and the tailgate easily open to full open. We have it on the back of our sprinter camper and the swing out is perfect of the back door. Engineered to allow easy access to van. I have a 2019 tacoma with a...  Read More

The rack locks the bikes down really well, it folds up as well as any other racks and it's easy to take off and put on even at 60 lbs. Our bikes fit on and are snugly secured. Once done the rack is a breeze to fold up out of the ways. Must have for sa...  Read More

They supply a cable with a lockable attachment to the rack. Comes with a spare handle for the one that secures the mount to prevent swinging out. Same key can be used to unlock the cable from the bikes.

I had to gulp when paying 750 for a bike rack😮

Shipping

The rack was well packaged and arrived unscathed via ups

Packaging/appearance

The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 one downside is that the rack arrived in the packaging with a bent component brand new

I was pleasantly surprised to see the more expensive metal locks included in the box already

Unboxed and setup the rockymounts backstage rack tonight

Competitiveness

Thule and yakima sell platform racks and they sell swingarm attachments but to buy both parts will set you back 800 or more

The price point hardware and rocky mounts warranty beats out the european brands for sure

I looked at thule and yakima racks but this was the only platform rack with integrated swingarm

Lots of thought went into the product

But its a tall rack that puts your bikes way up above the hitch height

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

At least a foot above the hitch

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

If your hitch is low like under the bumper low youll be fine

If your hitch isnt really low be forewarned

Even if the bikes fit into the garage getting them on off the rack is going to require more work
