Pros & Cons

The AI used to provide these results are constantly improving. These results might change.

Pros

It does a great job, the only time i notice any exhaust mist is when it first pulls a vacuum, after that it no longer does. There are aftermarket exhaust fittings for vacuum pumps that include high-quality oil mist traps.

Cons

Quality of this new stuff is deplorable. Overheats easily and shuts itself down. Just don't make my mistake and buy this one.

Quality

Com not only from the quality of merchandise but also the information on shipping delivery

Havent used it yet but you can tell it is a quality product

Packaging/appearance

I have to throw the robinair in a fume hood whenever i want to use it to keep my workspace from getting filled with oil fog

Competitiveness

I have a robinair 15150 with some time on it

While its chinese heritage is obvious it is larger and heavier than an offbrand dualstage chinese pump of similar capacity

While this may be indicative of sturdier construction the 22lbs 10kg weight is quite bit more than the 6kg of the competitor

Its especially frustrating compared to the cheapo ebay pump i had before it which included a flimsy but nevertheless functional...  Read More

I was a bit disappointed it was manufactured in china as robinair products used to be made in the usa but this is a sign of the times

My previous vacuum pump was a noname one off ebay ostensibly with much higher specs than this one and costing a bit less

I had assumed that that was the whole point of an exhaust fitting to prevent constant oil loss from misting but it turns out the one in this pump is just a check valve and the exhaust never goes through any kind of filter

The manual and marketing materials explicitly claim that it has an oil mist trap and wont emit fog but i dont know what to tell you its not just that i got a bad unit with a missing filter i really just dont even see a spot for one here at all

Im grumpy about this since the main reason that i ditched the old pump was because its oil mist trap was falling apart and mist was escaping

I have to throw the robinair in a fume hood whenever i want to use it to keep my workspace from getting filled with oil fog

This also means that the pump is losing oil much faster than it should so ill have to refill it much more frequently and i dont love that either

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

That looks like its going to increase the total price of the pump by well over 50 though which is very disappointing
