I played with six people and three were nongamers and they took to it very easily

The one thing to note is that one of the attack rules is not clear in the rulebook but fortunately the game designer responded on the boardgamegeek board“when a pride attacks from an adjacent territory successfully the other pride must vacate that territory and the attacker can choose to move into the area selecting as many lions as they would like to move from the attacking territory

We play with my kids and found that it has a similar playing concept as dominant species

The option to attack other players is there but you dont have to do it but we find that we have to attack roar to convert another players lion or take an area they were heading toward all for the sake of helping your own pride survive
